🌈 MENTAL DIFFERENCE

God is the Master Artist.

God-ordained variations in brain chemistry. The term rejects the stigma associated with mental illness and affirms the the dignity, worth, singularity, and giftedness of those who live with colors. The term is subjective: some who live with mental difference

prefer the term mental illness or other ways of framing their truth.

🎨 COLORS

The spiritual, emotional, and physical ways in which mental difference manifests - most often during the chemical cataclysm that constitutes bipolar disorder's hypomanic and depressive episodes. Mental difference is often painful; yet colors confer gifts such as creativity, insight, empathy, and avant-garde thinking. Georgia O'Keefe and Vincent Van Gough painted stunning portraits. Lord Byron, Emily Dickinson, and Virginia Woolf penned exquisite poetry. Nina Simone and Theolonius Monk gave us beautiful music. Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill were transformational leaders and mathematics professor Dr. John Nash (A Beautiful Mind), and psychiatrist Dr. Kay Redfield Jamison are likewise gifted - not in spite of, because of their difference. Dr. Jamison explores this in

Touched With Fire: Manic Depressive Order and the Artistic Temperament.

Mommy is a Rainbow's protagonist is a wonderfully colorful mother who lovingly describes her busy,

beautiful, bipolar brain to her daughter.

🦋 "I LIVE WITH"

The phrase “I am _ "suggests that one’s difference is her/his sole identity.

The phrase “I live with _" conveys the truth that mental difference is one of many aspects of an individual’s identity and experience.

I live with mental difference and vitiligo. Neither condition defines me.
